Being that that thread is already so large and confusing, with S1 being talked about as well as S2, I figured I'd start a new thread devoted solely to discuss what is coming up ahead. I watch this cast and just wish they'd bring back the girls from season 1 (and alex). The only people I like are Abraham, Nellie and Girl!Bieber and I already know they won't win because Ryan will choose yet another mediocre white male. How fun.

I find it crazy that, quite honestly, I loved the entire cast last year. Like even when all we had was their first video (Firework) I was like....man these kids are pretty good! But in this group only a couple really popped. In their defense, a few voices sounded like they had potential for a diff kind of song. If I ranked based solely on this song:

Oh thanks. I don't think I have been impressed by anyone, but that's only one video. Although the blind guy (Mario?) and the first girl (Nellie?) did stand out from the rest for me. The first 3 guys (Blake, Maxfield, Charlie ???) and the next 3 girls (Aylin, Lily, Shanna ???) are too similiar with each other. For the wheelchair girl (Ali) and the guy after her (Michael ?), this isn't a song for them, although the guy has an interesting voice. And the guy in purple (Tyler ?) and the one that sings last (Dani?) sound annoying.

Alex and Cameron were better singers than all the girls, again with the exception of Lindsay. Same with Charlie here, if they let him show his chops, and probably Mario . And Abraham and Blake are not worse than Hannah, Ellis or McKynleigh, for example.

I like Maxfield, but then again, I like country music. However, the fact that he's basically Chord 2.0 in everything else kinda makes me nervous. I loved Shanna, Abraham and Lily Mae and Blake and Mario are good too.

Your truth maybe. DOn't recall ever stating my opinion as fact. Not even basing my opinion on vocal talent alone. I just like the S1 girls better. The first impression I got from the firework video beats the impression I got from the girls in EOG. S1 girls were distinct. This season's are meh to me. Apart from Shanna's obviously exceptional voice compared to the rest and Nellie's husky alto, the rest of the girls pretty much all sound alike to me. All the boys are mediocre in this season. At least last season, Cameron and Alex stood out.

Oh and to be completely shallow, I think the S2 cast as a whole is fuglier than the season 1 cast.

I like everyone but Maxfield. That whole "jock turned straight who wears a promise ring to treat women right." That's a load of trash. We already got that whole jock concept from the many New Directions football players. And he doesn't look very high-school to me.

I'm also torn around Tyler and Taryn. Tyler reminds me a lot of myself, but I don't necessarily favor his voice. Taryn seems too much like April Rhodes, but judging by the video, I adore her voice.

I'm personally hoping for Lily Mae and Shanna to win. Lily Mae because I really wanted Hannah to win last year, and I need someone who portrays a fat character who actually HATES her body. Unlike Zizes who puts her size to good use and Quinn who ran away from that body. But I guess Mercedes already had that. And Shanna just has that uniqueness and excitement about her. I'd also like to see Blake OR Michael on the show. One or the other, but in a more minor arc. Again, just because they have that excitement. Same for Aylin. I hope Dani wins fan favorite though.

As for EOG vs. Firework. I like EOG better. I feel like they're dashing into LA to pursue their dreams which is what the first episode of Season 2 should be like. Firework felt welcoming but not as welcoming as EOG.

Season 1 did have more underdogs. Season 2 also has a lot but it's just not as physical as last year. Listed below:

And seriously everyone. Please actually take the time to watch the episode before making judgements. I'm sure a lot of you hated the idea of Glee Project Season 1 before it aired, and then you fell in love with your favorite contenders. Just because Ryan Murphy completely missed the point of GP last year hopefully means he'll correct his mistakes this year. And with Nikki on the last chance judging board, that hopefully means more rightful saves and vetoes.

I feel like I know at least 3 girls who looks JUST like Shanna, it's uncany. She has the exact sam face as my old lab partner freshman year, only she was a ginger.

Agree on last year's girls, however, comparing the two first week videos the S1 girls aren't much better and no one sounds good on Gaga's shit music, just like Firework last year. I'm going to wait and see but aside from Shanna and Lily Mae, I'm not all that impressed yet. But they all have potential, I'm especially curious about Ali.

I'm not going to rate them yet and I'm not going to make predictions. The ones that I may not have thought 'popped' on screen or sounded good now might improve as time goes on.

Another thing is there were so many of them! By the time I learn all their names half of them will be gone.

I found it really strange to see them back in that same setting in the same choir room though...

I do wish they had worked it out for Damian/Samuel/Lyndsay and Alex to at least show up and say hi.

I wouldn't doubt it if Ryan brought the four winners in at least for the finale. I don't think he'd trust them to mentor or anything, them being the newest to the cast along with Vanessa, Grant, and NeNe. But the last year's final four will know just what to say to this year's final four. (Or final five, if Ian decides to go anti-elimination in the week before the finals XD)

Im going in order of the solos not in order of my favorites and this is totally unbiased because i didnt see any interviews or bios just pics and what people said here:
BLAKE: Wow I was expecting to not like him at all but he was one of my favorites. His lack of training didnt make him stick out like a sore thumb from the others, he looked great on camera, and his voice is pretty good
CHARLIE: Ehh...hes not bad but his voice is not my thing at all.
MAXWELL: see above except more annoying presence and less lesbian finn looks (whoever said that- now i cant unsee it!! )
MARIO: aww i like his voice. Im interested to see how he plays out. He also looks really huggable which never hurts
ABRAHAM: his hair bothers me but his voice was GREAT.
NELLIE: what a cool voice. giving me ellis-ish vibes and im not sure why. anyways i like her for now
AYLIN: she was good,decent,nice all that but nothing special to my ears at least
LILY MAE: probably my favorite. She seems so bubbly and happy and fun! I just wanted to see her on my screen the whole video. Oh and her voice is good also
SHANNA: WOWOWOW great voice/belt!
ALI: her voice really grated for some reason
MICHAEL: well i have my eye candy for the season! oh and he sang and stuff to right? haha yeah pretty average honestly but he was fun to look at
TYLER: his performance was so flat and im not a music person but something sounded off on his vocals? maybe im just not into that style? whatever, not my thing either way
TARYN: holy mother, that was alot of runs. Shes good but again nothing special
DANI: shes kinda adorable. i also really liked her voice, but i wouldnt say she was a standout

so overall my favorites were: Lily Mae, Shanna, Blake, Abraham, and Dani in that order

lol did anyone watch the casting special? These people truly can't run a show, half of the contestants were absolutely ridiculous.

Spoilers below.

The casting special was pretty cool. I noticed that one guy with the glasses fashion who was there last year. Too bad he never made it to the top 30 even this year. I was especially depressed for Brege von Bleicken. I know I'm probably only on her side as a sympathy vote, because yeah, it is infuriating being stuck in a shadow. Bias aside I do admit that Brege isn't that good of a singer, but she's so special in her own way, and it killed me when there were only three names left and I saw Nellie, Max, and Mario were still seated.

Lily Mae, however, totally owned one part of the show with her amazing theatricality during her "Anything Goes" audition. And I love how Zack was all like "After meeting Ali, I realized that Kevin McHale has to work a little bit harder." xD Mario, however. Gosh that's going to be hard. He was always on the verge of breaking down so I can't imagine how depressing it'll be when he's eliminated. Is he going to have a guide at the Glee Project 'campus' with him? The other blind guy was so brave too, though it was kind of sad seeing how shy and doubtful he was about himself.

The girl with the major degree burns, damn. That's something I've seen on television, never in real life. I really feel for her, and she really gave me the shivers.

The skype callbacks were hilarious. Robert's opening was so depressing and I was like "DANG IT! YOU'RE KILLING THEM!" Shanna, Nellie, and Taryn didn't seem too... emotional about it, but I guess not everyone belts their lungs out of their chest when they get a callback. xD Charlie, oh I love him. "Pardon me... *SCREAMS TO THE WORLD*"

Abraham's interaction with Ryan was pretty amazing too. "Hello, Mr. Abraham, knowing how to set the stage!" Abraham: "... Huh?" lol He's hilarious. And the breakdowns aside, Mario has such an amazing confidence level. I thought Aylin would remind me more of Marissa but she's so much like Emily. I already knew she was a flirt from the interviews, but she is SOMETHING. xD I wish I could see her mom's reaction when she sees it. xD "You mean to tell me... you've used tampons and kissed a boy?" lol

This does give me an impact on who I want to make it far, though. I was going to root for Blake or Michael to be a runner-up, assuming Ryan chose four winners again, but Michael, like Nikki said, isn't polished just yet. Blake doesn't seem to have the Glee factor either. So I've re-updated my favorites list to, in particular order of most favorite to least favorite but still amazing...
1. Lily Mae (I hate to say it but I think I'm going to root for her more than Hannah, and I was totally IN LOVE with Hannah last year)
2. Abraham (Just because if I'm going to have the pleasure of watching 11 episodes, I want Abraham on every one. xD)
3. Charlie (Like Abraham, I want that presence in every episode, and I feel like we should glimpse into McKinley's special ed curriculum) xD
4. Dani (Just because she is just so charming and I do feel like she'll bring something unique to the show.)
5. Ali (I know everyone hates her nasally voice but she's got something)
6. Mario (Because he's right... We got Sugar, we got Becky, we got Artie and Quinn, WHERE'S THE CUTE BLIND GUY? lol)
7. Shanna (I do think that Glee needs a country singer, but I realized the only reason I supported Shanna was because I know she'll go far in the show and she has an amazing belt)
8. Nellie (Because I underestimated her amazing alto and because she actually replied to my YouTube comment XD)
9. Michael (For the youth!)
10. Aylin (For the fun attitude, but like Emily, I don't think it'll let her win)
11. Blake (Like a compliment to Aylin, which is ironic since they seem to be the only ship of the season xD)
12. Maxfield (Although I hate his story, I have to admit, that is the most appealing country voice ever)
13. Tyler (I never would have guessed he was born a female. I thought he was just a real life Unique xD)
14. Taryn (Though I think she has a great country voice, she just didn't stand out)

But you know, this is DEFINITELY going to change every single episode. But count this as my favorites as of Casting Special. xD The order was totally different as of Preliminary Interviews and Edge of Glory Sneak Peak. xD
