Supergirl is staging another unexpected family reunion in the new year.

Laurie Metcalf has landed a guest spot on The CW drama, playing the estranged mother of Jeremy Jordan’s Winn Schott, TVLine has learned. We’ll meet her in the 15th episode of the season, which will air sometime in 2018. Supergirl previously introduced Winn’s father, the villainous Toyman, during Season 1. (Let’s hope this reunion goes more smoothly.)

News of Metcalf’s casting was first mentioned, rather casually, in a Vanity Fair feature, which claimed that Metcalf initially showed interest the part “so her youngest child can meet her idol Melissa Benoist

Best known for playing Roseanne‘s Jackie Harris from 1988 to 1997 — a three-time Emmy-winning role she’s reprising in ABC’s 2018 revival — Metcalf’s small-screen work also includes roles on HBO’s Getting On, CBS’ The Big Bang Theory and ABC’s Desperate Housewives, all of which earned her additional nominations.

The true four-part, two-night event, Crisis on Earth-X, finally has a synopsis! Unlike the three-part crossover event last year, the synopsis for all four shows is more or less the same. Regardless, there are some very positive notes from the synopsis! As everyone was expecting, Chyler Leigh's Alex Danvers is indeed in all four parts as she is specifically mentioned in the synopsis! We've seen from behind the scenes images that Winn will also be involved which has Flash and Supergirl fans crossing their fingers for the most anticipated meeting in the Arrowverse since Supergirl met the Flash, Arrow and Legends. Of course, we mean that of Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Winn (Jeremy Jordan). As for the synopsis, check it out below. Please note, it is the same for each show except where "guest star" applies or does not apply (below is the Supergirl version):

THE EPIC FOUR-WAY CROSSOVER WITH “ARROW,” “SUPERGIRL,” “THE FLASH” AND “DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW” BEGINS — Barry (guest star Grant Gustin) and Iris’s (guest star Candice Patton) wedding brings the gang together, but things go awry when villains from Earth-X attack the ceremony. All of the superheroes band together with help from their super friends like Citizen Cold (guest star Wentworth Miller), The Ray (guest star Russell Tovey), Felicity Smoak (guest star Emily Bett Rickards), Iris West and Alex Danvers (Chyler Leigh) to take on their most formidable villains yet. Earth’s mightiest heroes – Green Arrow (guest star Stephen Amell), Supergirl (Melissa Benoist), The Flash (guest star Grant Gustin) and White Canary (guest star Caity Lotz) – lead their teams into battle to save the world. Larry Teng directed the episode with story by Andrew Kreisberg & Marc Guggenheim and teleplay by Robert Rovner & Jessica Queller

3X10 - Legion of Super-Heroes

3X11 - Fort Rozz
3X12 - For Good

The first episode after the true four-show crossover will introduce us to Reign! In the episode titled "Reign", Kara is going to be doing some investigating to find out why strange Kryptonian symbols have been appearing around National City. If the prevalence of Reign wasn't enough, it sounds like Morgan Edge is going to be making a return as well! Check out the synopsis below:

REIGN CHALLENGES SUPERGIRL – Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) investigates a mysterious symbol popping up all over National City, tracing its origins back to an ancient prophecy and the mark of the World Killer, Reign (Odetee Annable). Meanwhile, the tension between Lena (Katie McGrath) and Morgan Edge (guest star Adrian Pasdar) continues to build, causing James to step in and offer up some protection, and possibly igniting a spark in the process. Glen Winter directed the episode written by Paula Yoo & Caitlin Parrish (#309).
