Just because.

I'm gonna start with this video, because it's the cutest/greatest thing I've ever seen.

Am I alone in thinking that A New Hope is the strongest of the original trilogy

Perhaps it's partly nostalgia (it's the only Star Wars movie I distinctly remember watching a lot when I was a kid), but I just love all the character introductions and interactions

There's something so quaint about it all that you can't help but love it ;(

Also adorable bb Luke

IT'S MY FAVORITE TOO!!

It's the most substantial movie in terms of storytelling, I think. The Empire Strikes Back has lots of build up for an anticlimatic pay off (I expected so much more from the "I am your father" revelation, but it fell flat) and the one good thing about The Return of the Jedi is Luke ultimately bringing Darth Vader to the light side.

Not to mention the lack of interaction between the main trio in the later movies, which I'm not here for. Han/Leia and Yoda saved ESB for me.

The trio interactions are what I love most, and miss later on ;(

Spoiler alert? Here's the NYT revealing the end of Star Wars (with George Lucas's blessing) a year before it opened.

Since this is general discussion, I thought I'd state (for those who don't know) the people in charge for episodes 8 and 9.

Rian Johnson is writing the scripts for the remaining two movies, and directing episode 8. He was the director of the film "Looper" and also directed what's being called the greatest episode of TV to ever air: Breaking Bad's Oxymandias (you know, the Hank episode in the final season).

The director for episode 9, using Johnson's script is is Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow.

That said, I fully expect episode 8 to take off into a completely original direction which is likely to be darker in tone than most Star Wars movies we've seen before. As that seems to be his writing/directing style.

I've been watching the whole saga for the first time this past few days. So far, I think: VI > V > I > IV.

I KNOW I KNOW, but I literally fell asleep twice trying to watch Episode IV (and once when I was a lot younger I tried watching and fell asleep as well). Even though I admit IV is more interesting than I, Idk I liked it more?

Also, some of you may know my dislike towards C3PO, but I must admit I would rather have three C3POs than one Jar Jar Binks :)

Surely this Rian guy and J.J will have a talk? He can't just write his own thing and disregard what happened in TFA, right?

Do they plan to wrap up the saga with 9?

I think I read they're going to continue with the stand-alone movies, but will Episode 9 be the last true Star Wars installment?

How can Return of the Jedi be the favorite to so many of you? That movie has ewoks, which, excuse me, are nothing but the precursors of Jar Jar Binks (shudder).

I'm also not particulalry fond of the scenes at Jabba's hut. The movie only kicks up pace for me when they go to the Great Pit of Carcoon.

V > IV > VI > III > VII > I > II

I love Return of the Jedi, but it's definitely the worst of the original trilogy for me.

My order would be IV > V > VI > VII > III > II > I.

VII just might have overtaken VI for me, but I'll have to rewatch before I know for sure.

My current ranking

VI > V > IV > VII > III > II > I

ROTJ has been my favorite since I was a kid, the rescue, Vader vs Luke. I love it  That said its super hard for me to rank the original trilogy because they're all so amazing IMO ;(

IV definitely has the best lines. I spent my childhood quoting Han Solo
